I was doing some research, and I found out that there is 400 popular lipsticks... that have traces of LEAD IN THEM! [Here's the website! http://www.fda.gov/cosmetics/productandingredientsafety/productinformation/ucm137224.htm]
Lead is REALLY dangerous, and even in small amounts can seriously harm someone. Then I thought, why put something on my lips that can harm me? Why can't I find something that will be less dangerous and look good? It was hard finding colors that I liked without any traces of lead in it. So, I looked on YouTube, and there was a link to a video about making lipstick out of Crayons!
It's really easy, 100% safe, and it works well. Better yet, there's unlimited colors you can use to make lipstick! Try using outrageous colors, like blue or green to make lipstick. It's so far from now, and you'll look totally ahead of your time. Besides, if you have it now, when it becomes popular, you'll already have it. PLUS, you'll know how to make it yourself!
Here's the recipe:
1/2 teaspoon of 100% pure shea butter
1/2 teaspoon of castor oil. [You cannot use a sub for this!]
1/2 crayon of your choice.
You'll need a double boiler for this. If you don't have one, just put a metal bowl on top of the pot and you're fine.
Fill the base pot halfway full of water, and then put the bowl on top. Put the ingredients in the bowl. Flame up your stove to high and watch it melt, mixing it around so the pigments and oils mix together. Then, spoon the mixture into a container. Ezri and I used empty lipstick tubes. You can also use small containers from The Container Store. My suggestion is buying cheap, crappy lipsticks from CVS or something and chopping the lipstick part off.
After you put it in, and it can be messy, put it in the fridge for about 20 minutes. It will come on smoothly and it's very moisturizing. We made 6 colors tonight, and here's a picture of the ones we made. We named our collection, Krayola Kollection. Please don't steal our names or anything <3
The colors are called:
Red - The Scarlet Letter
Black - Hot Tar
Burnt Orange/Sunset Orange - Sunset
Berry Purple - Eat Me Up
Ocean Blue - Ariel
Yolk Yellow - Egg-ilicious

A note from Ezri: Hey hey hey guys!!! Wazzup?? Next time I'll get to write the blog post Yay'z!!!! This was super fun and hilarious to make. Especially the crazy colors like blue and black. These are actually really good colors with nice pigmentation for being made out of crayons...... also a really good way to use up those old broken crayons at the bottom of your craft box no one will use anymore. Those are the peasant crayons. Now make them into something everyone will envy! Those peasants will feel so wanted. You will fulfill the crayons mission in life. But seriously, these lipsticks work really well, and are very luxurious...... I love that word. I don't know why. ANYWAYS Try this with a friend, it was super fun, and only minimally messy. Unless you're a friendless alien. Then I can't help you there. Have fun, and don't burn yourself! (*cough* I did. Don't laugh, it hurts :D)
A note from Julia: This recipe is the perfect example of the the three R's. Reusing, recycling and reduce. Reducing the amount of random crayons you have laying around, recycling them into lipstick, and reusing them after all those years into something that interests you now! Clean up is easy, prep is easy, overall, it's easy! You'll have interesting lipstick no one can buy!
